City Fathers Meet for Petitions and Street Names
The city council held a lengthy session last evening from 8 to after 11. They approved a cement approach for McKeague Bros livery on Main street and discussed naming streets. A $50 contribution to the Upper Mississippi River association was proposed, with three delegates to attend Minneapolis. The bridge committee seeks county aid for a Spring street bridge. An 8 inch sewer from Franklin to Meeker was read, with two thirds of costs to be paid by property owners. An ordinance requires Franklin street sidewalks in cement or concrete, with fines of five dollars per day for violations. Advancing street numbering and a Turner hall crossing were also decided. The annual tax collection appropriation was set at $19,162.00. Adjourned to the next regular meeting.
