Thomas Brown, a 64 year old shoe string vender in Elgin, was robbed by two tramps who stole $3 and his wooden leg. They threw him from the National Street bridge into the river. bystanders and gas company employees helped him to shore. Officer Green took him to the police station at five.

A youth perhaps 18 to 20 years old was fatally struck by the second section of freight train No 72 near Freeport at 10 30 Sunday morning. The train broke in two due to air brake defects. no witnesses identified the victim who wore a gray suit and a cap. An inquest returned a verdict exonerating the railroad. Coroner Peck sought clues by telegrams to Pawnee Bill's show and area police, with a photograph taken to aid identification. The death appears accidental and the body was delayed before arrival in Freeport.
George Tressel a respected Dubuque resident died at his home after a six month illness linked to injuries from a runaway five years earlier. Born in Galena forty nine years ago he lived in Dubuque twenty five years and leaves a wife and seven children. He belonged to the M W A Dubuque Camp St Aloysius Holy Ghost church and Roundhouse Shops society. He worked in Milwaukee shops before retiring and recently ran a small stand on Eighth street. Funeral is set for Wednesday at 9 from the residence to Mt Calvary cemetery.
A Dubuque report says an unknown youth killed by an Illinois Central freight train near Freeport Sunday is believed to be Harvey Dunbar formerly with Grant Hotel. His brothers verify portions of the description. one brother in Freeport could not confirm identity while another brother in Dubuque was found alive. If not identified soon, the body may be buried at Butterfield Breeport.
The Mississippi headwaters dam system held 76 billion cubic feet of water on June 30, a rise of 24 billion from 1904. J J Delaney of Hazel Green Wisconsin escaped death when his wagon was wrecked by frightened horses on Pine Street as a street car approached. He was hurled to the ground but not killed or seriously injured. After securing the team he took the wreckage to a repair shop.

Three women Mrs. Laibelle and her daughters Grace Laibelle and Gladys Brine were killed when their buggy was struck by a fast freight train near Freeport. The collision occurred around 5:30 at a Milwaukee grade crossing under an overpass, despite engineer Captain Owens and conductor Erwin signaling and warning. All three victims were thrown from the rig, with Mrs Laibelle and Grace dying at the scene and Gladys Brine unconscious, later dying at St Francis hospital.
