Grant Park Celebration Plans For Grant Birthday Day
The Grant Birthday association met with Mayor Scheerer to finalize the coming celebration. Galena Cornet band is engaged and a final meeting is set for Thursday night. Decorations along Main street and public buildings are urged, weather permitting exercises in Grant Park with a ball game afterward between Galena High School nine and Knights of Columbus, proceeds to aid San Francisco sufferers.

Mrs Chas Welch Dies at Four Mile House Home
Mrs Chas Welch, about 30, died at her Four Mile House home after a several day illness described as brain fever. She was a loving wife and mother, resided in the area all her life, and leaves behind a husband and one son. Funeral arrangements have not been announced.

Risked life to steal wire
Ralph Tegg of Reservoir Heights attempted a bold theft at an electric motor site, stealing three large live wires valued at about 30 dollars. Night electrician Oliver Nichols confronted the intruder as he fled. Nichols fired twice, scaring the suspect into surrender at the city hall station. Police recovered wire and tools on the suspect.

Sprinkling Streets Main Street Paving Underway
