A local retailer announces a month long housecleaning sale with larger stocks and wide selections. The store promises low prices across departments and hundreds of bargains unmatched by competitors. Prices claimed as the lowest or equal to any rival, aiming to attract shoppers.
Northern market advertisement lists half price wallpaper up to date designs, lace curtains from 19 cents, baby carriages and Go-Carts, glassware and china, flour, sugar, soap, and a wide range of carpets, mats, window shades, sewing machines, brushes, hardware, and garden tools with bold pricing and discounts. Numerous named items and low prices dominate the page.
The most sanguinary modern battle was the Moscow clash of 1812 with about 130000 French soldiers, 30000 lost, and 140000 Russians with 60000 casualties. Also noted are plans for a visit to Dubuque on the 14th for a class initiation by Galenians.
Warren and Apple River visitors populate city scenes with several business calls and social visits. The Galena Harp Orchestra will provide music as thousands of attendees are expected to visit the Wallace building venue.
Mrs Ursula Von Wald an elderly boarding house operator at 551 Town Street Dubuque died by gas asphyxiation after securing her doors Wednesday night. Her body was found Thursday morning by housemates. Henry Taman of Chicago died Friday at his sister Mrs Thomas Wards home on Gear Street aged 43 from stomach ailment and heart failure. He had lived in Chicago 15 years as a superintendent in a paint plant. he was born in Lyons Iowa and survived only by his sister. Funeral for Mr Taman will be from St Michael church Sunday at 2 30. John Sheean returns from University of Wisconsin for Master vacation.
Mrs George Willy aged 27 dies at her parents Franklin Street home after bronchitis illness. Henry Taman aged 43, brother of Mrs Thomas Ward, also dies in Chicago. Funeral for Mrs Willy at St Marys Church follows a 2:50 pm service after private prayers at her parents home. Interment in German Catholic Cemetery.
The bill appropriates $5000 for the maintenance of the Grant Memorial Home in Galena and passed the House in Springfield this morning. It now awaits Governor Deneen's signature to become law.
The Illinois Central pay car arrived in Galena today and pleasured the hearts of the employees of that road.
Mrs Dr Gee Crissman of Rock Island is visiting her parents Mr and Mrs Heney Wallace, confirming extended family ties during a brief hometown visit.
