Tragedy in Pittsburgh Wife Shot by Husband After Family Attempt

Mrs Cora Ernst 21 native of Frostburg was killed at her husband William Ernst 844 Estella St Pittsburgh Pa by five gunshots. Ernst blamed Roger Sweeney 23 who lived with his sister Mrs Frank Bush at 4826 Second Ave for causing the separation. Family members had traveled from Frostburg to reconcile the couple.

Freight conductor Ernst admits killing wife in Pittsburgh

Ernst, 24, a Pennsylvania Railroad freight conductor, told police he fatally shot his wife after failed pleas for reconciliation. He conferred with her mother and relatives in Frostburg before the Pittsburgh shooting near their home. The wife’s body was identified in the morgue as her husband prepared for an inquest while Ernst awaited detention.

Mrs. William R. Percy Dies at West Union Street Home

Anna Elizabeth Bishop Percy died Friday at 8:30 AM at her son in law W E G Hitchins home on West Union Street. Born April 23 1867 in Indiana Pa she was 78 years old. Survived by sister Mrs William A Warner daughters Mrs W E G Hitchins and Mrs U B EF Edwards son George Percy and seven grandchildren. Funeral planned for Sunday afternoon at St Pauls Lutheran Church with Rev Harry Hursh Beidleman officiating. Interment Allegany Cemetery.

Frostburg Hygiene Crusade Planned by Dr. Riley and Officials

Dr. Robert H. Riley, Deputy State Health Officer, announces a sanitation drive in Frostburg with Mayor, Council, Civic League, and Board of Health. Citizens must abate unsanitary nuisances immediately to protect public health. In a letter from Maryland State Forester F W Besley Governor Har tington appointed George Reidler Sr as Forest Warden for the local district. He qualified before the Circuit Court Clerk and began duties. He will be paid ten cents per mile one way via the most direct route.

Inter-society debate at Beall High School draws large crowd

Beall High School hosts the sixth annual inter-society debate between the Belles Lettres and Athenian Literary Societies in the Assembly Hall. The program features piano, vocal, and violin performances, followed by a debate on whether the United States should grant the Philippine Islands independence. Sanitary Postage Stamp Machines Installed in Local Stores

J. W. Shea druggist installs a sanitary postage stamp machine in his shop containing 500 two cent and 500 one cent stamps. A similar device was set up by the L. N. Meadows Co., also a druggist, for customer convenience.
