The Fergus County Democrat argues that Helena Montana wields undue influence as the state capital and county seat. It taunts Maryland voters to oppose a constitutional amendment granting Baltimore practical legislative control, warning of biased advantage for the capital and largest city.
Local residents visit relatives and attend events. Henry Lehr visits son in Altoona while photographer G W McElfish plans to attend the National Photographers Convention in New York. Will H Towles of Washington DC, a Frostburg native, is noted among leading photographers. Various social visits include Miss Colborn and Miss Biesecker from Somerset, Mrs Reardon of Winchester, and others in Frostburg, Altoona, Hollidaysburg, and Carlisle. A Finzel merchant, KF A Werner, jokes about Main Street length while the Journal recalls a Winchester joke about Frostburg location.
Postmaster Hanna received a letter from Hon. George A. Pearce outlining approval steps for a Frostburg Post Office project. The plan includes a $35,000 item in the Sundry Civil Bill and total site and building funds of $50,000 with a $10,000 site cost. Architect J Knox Taylor will prepare plans as Col. Pearce congratulates Frostburg on the town’s good fortune.
Noah Hendley sheriff and ex-resident attempted to eject John Schweitzer from premises. Schweitzer shot Hendley twice, injuring his hand and chest. Deputy Walter Clay then shot Schweitzer, who died that evening. Hendley is expected to recover amid community well wishes.
Six ears of popcorn on display at the G. E. Pearce Drug Store windows weigh one pound fifteen ounces. Raised by Rev. G. E. Metger in his Frost avenue garden, Metger is an agriculture expert who praises Frostburg soil for producing high quality light cereals.
Miss Bertha Lewis daughter of Mr and Mrs John Lewis wed Mr George H Hill of this place at the bride parents home on a February Thursday evening 1911 ceremony conducted by Rev D H Martin. Dream land Theatre advertises Miltair a vision of Patriotism with the drum stick artist performing Way Down on the Suanee River praised as worth many times its price.
Prof. D A Boyle, John Moore, Frank Herman of Eckhart and D C Moore of North Carolina have bought a farm at the confluence of Jennings Ran valley and Cash valley. They will raise poultry on a mammoth scale using automatic devices for coping laying and hatching processes.
Regular session reports on Union street paving and water line repairs. Receipts show taxes and water dues. unpaid Union street assessments total 4 103 24. Citations of delinquent taxes and bids for National Pike repair discussed with contractor permissions granted for material hauling. Action ordered on delinquent notices and bills paid.

All holders of tickets for the opera at Frostburg Opera House may select seats at Pearce's Drug Store on Tuesday February 11. The Ladies of the First M. E. Church will hold a supper on Tuesday February from 5 until 7 30 p.m. Admission is 25 cents.
A reader from Stroud Oklahoma credits Bucklen’s Arnica Salve with curing an ugly boil after a wife’s suggestion. The ad touts the salve for burns cuts sprains and more and lists a 25 cent price. Another reader from Coal City Alabama praises Dr King’s New Life Pills for chronic illness and general relief.
The Maryland National Guard encampment will run ten days starting July 13 per Adjutant-General in Annapolis. No site chosen yet with Frederick Frostburg and Westminster contending. Frostburg urged as ideal location with July plenty of activity and civic groups told to pursue the camp arrangement.
The Men of the M E church Eckhart will host a George Washington Supper at Mr O U A M Hal next Wednesday evening the 22d to raise funds for the church. Marriage licenses issued include Harrison A Shrout and Mary Jane Biddle of Westernport William G Holt of Winterburn WV and Elizabeth Ann Haver of Frostburg.
