Frostburg items recall town council vacancy due to William Beane absence. Obituaries, marriages, school board actions, a jury verdict on Daniel McNamara, and local civic notes including a Lonaconing library workshop, a six week Scotland trip, and a new Lonaconing Cornet Band leadership.
Harry C McAllister reports that John P Sullivan Grand Exalted Ruler of the Elks arranged clash free schedules for 1912 conventions In Portland Portland week of July 8 for the Elks and Los Angeles for the Shriners and Grand Army in September May respectively He also influenced Republicans to set the Chicago convention for June 18 and is negotiating with the Democratic Committee for a different week.
A Cumberland man travels through a hardware store, 10 cent shop, department store, and finally a sweater shop seeking a 36 chest. A comical exchange with a lady clerk ends with him asking to be shown the door and declaring he’ll buy the 36 chest elsewhere.

Christmas greetings and educational notes appear. Piedmont's baseball plans promise bold challenges while Cumberland resists joining a local league.
Rev Dr French E Oliver, a Kansas City evangelist, preached five weeks in Laporte Indiana and at the last service accepted $1700 from admirers. He branded Laporte as the rottenest town this side of hell and its people as skunks whiskey soaked bums pin heads spindle legged mutts lobsters. An Indianapolis paper noted the irony and asked if Laporte had called him a knocker.
Of 50 typhoid cases reported in October, 35 were in Cumberland, 12 in Frostburg, 2 in Mt. Savage, and 1 in Lonaconing. The disease was widespread in the state. The author asks if mild falls and winters make soil vapors from infected soil more pungent and suggests sanitary soil treatment as a preventive measure alongside water supply care.
