Kate Ouray Heroine in Chicago Five Alarm Fire

March 16 a catastrophic blaze at the National Logic and Conover Piano buildings on Wabash and Adams Street consumed seven floors. Kate Ouray, forewoman of the National Music Co, perished while guiding coworkers to safety, while 19 people died and about 30 were injured. Fire left extensive damage and a $300,600 plus loss, with 74,000 building value.
