A massive flood from the Kinava river tributaries and Johnstown reservoir caused widespread destruction. Bridges, tracks, and telegraph lines were swept away as towns along the Potomac and surrounding counties faced rising waters, with residents evacuated and railroad trains halted.
Dawn to dusk reports describe catastrophic flood effects around Johnstown and nearby towns. Two passenger trains were swept away, hundreds feared dead, and entire districts submerged as hotels, bridges, and coal mines vanished under rising waters. Rescue efforts continue amid staggering losses and mass gatherings for relief.
A Wednesday tour of a Buckner and Kerr turkey ranch, southeast of the town, revealed over 1200 young turkeys in various ages. About 1200 eggs are in incubation under hens, with hatching to August and a projected 2100 to 3000 birds this season. Average weight around ten pounds and price near 11 cents per pound. 2500 birds could fetch about $2230.
Reports describe the Johnstown disaster with thousands affected by flood and fire. An estimated 1000 plus bodies recovered, many still buried under debris as relief efforts mobilize. Survivors recount the rising flood and collapsing structures, with Catholic and civic groups aiding hospitals and shelters.

A violent late night altercation occurred near the courthouse involving Fiske and Heath. Fiske, intoxicated, fought Heath after an interaction at a street show, then moved toward courthouse vicinity where fists and insults escalated. Constable arrived, restraining both, with further trouble noted as onlookers and a nearby group witnessed the scene. Reports indicate subsequent pursuit and a planned arrest later today.
The city advanced street and sewer projects with contracts and payments including the IKatreet schoolhouse, Sewer Pro Company pipe delivery valued at 311 340.09, and amendments to street grading. A farewell party for Moss Dowry was given by Mr and Mrs Po Su fel at their home with many attendees. C N Pox of San Francisco was noted at The Hughes.
