Reading Industrialist Otis Hammel Killed by Freight Engine
Otis Hammel, about 60, proprietor of a Reading saw mill, died Friday after noon when his Ford touring car was struck broadside by a locomotive backing down near the Reading depot. Brakeman Glen Norton of Fort Wayne was injured, and Hammel’s car was demolished. Norton, who jumped clear, was treated in hospital. Hammel had lived in Reading six years after moving from Fremont. He leaves a wife and three children, with one son at DePauw University and daughters in Missouri and New Hampshire.

Revival series opens at Methodist Episcopal Church
A four week revival began Sunday night at the Methodist Episcopal Church with services led by different county ministers. This week is Epworth League hosted Win-My-Chum Week.
