A new Peru city directory lists population 12 179 for Peru and suburbs. The 1900 Peru census shows 8402 and three suburbs have since been incorporated.
An ad touts Dr King’s New Life Pills with claims of health improvements. Separately, 25 year old Robert Eberbrook was crushed to death last Sunday at noon between a protection post and a wharfboat while watching the Island Queen binding.
An advertisement extols Oring Laxative Feast Syrup for women and children, praising its mild action and pleasant taste compared with harsh pills. It claims to aid digestion, stimulate liver and bowels without irritation, and warns against substitutes. The piece also notes a major North American gymnastics union gathering in Indianapolis next June.
