Wrecks and heroism along Long Island shores 1895 1904
The narrative recounts deadly storms testing Long Island life saving crews. It centers on the Louis V. Place wreck near Lone Hill and the rescues of William Stevens and Soren Nelson, with Surfman Frank Raynor and Albert Latham saving a second survivor from the Portland bound Cromwell. It notes prior wrecks Circassian and the Italian bark Place and reflects on service losses and heroic efforts along the Jersey and Massachusetts coasts.
