Rules for Five Acre Corn Growing Contest Adopted

Steuben County sets rules for a five acre corn contest with cash prizes totaling 50 dollars. Participants must join the Steuben County Corn Growers' Association by June 15 and enter by June 10 1917, grow five acres in one block within Steuben County, keep detailed production and cost records, and submit yield data to a committee by December 1. Sorosis Program Delights with Riley Themed Talk

On Wednesday evening the Sorosis club heard Rev. Allen A. Stockdale speak on The Message of James Whitcomb Riley. Guests attended and you could tell the audience gained a warmer view of the Hoosier poet who loved children. Ref refreshments followed and Mr and Mrs Stockdale lingered briefly to meet members.

Too Much Smith stage show drew full house on Friday and Saturday

Clarence Clark as parson and Leslie Weigle as the other Mr Smith delivered strong performances. Harold Lint, Brock McNaughton and Lyle Jane provided humor and solid makeup. Lois Dotts and the other senior actresses were praised, with Mildred Wade and Ned Chapin supplying music. John Culver of Angola directed.
