What a Public Library Does for a Community
A public library doubles the value of education for children and fuels a desire for knowledge that sustains learning beyond school. It educates adults who missed early opportunities and provides information for teachers, ministers, journalists, doctors, and lawmakers shaping civic welfare. It supplies books for technical instruction, supports industrial progress, and offers entertainment that reduces crime. It elevates intelligence, improves living conditions, and fosters public spirit, thrift, and morality, acting as a living organism capable of growth and social betterment.
