Evening clothes passenger falls from Chicago streetcar
Not reliably enforced anecdote details a man in evening attire with a jag clinging to a crowded surface car footboard in Chicago. After a sharp curve he falls onto cobblestones as the conductor and about twenty passengers assist him. He asks if there was a collision or if he was off the track. He quips that he would not have gotten off if he had known. The piece concludes with a remark on self-assertive friends and a dog barking for courage.
