L. Crouse purchased a new 12 horsepower Auliman Taylor engine to run his corn shelter and threshing machine. The ad touts Roberts No 333 Kidney and Liver Pills as a cure for ailments from kidney liver and bowel disorders and lists a price of 5 cents per box.
Numerous notices record travel, appointments, and family events. John Grill directs a band as a clarinetist, Rev Chas Highfield to lead Presbyterian services on May 7, and W T Davis attends events in Hamburg along with Dungan and Morton funeral references.
Hon J Sterling Morton lies in state as Nebraska City suspends all business and the city shrouds in black. Remains journeyed from Chicago by special train to Nebraska City arriving at 8 17 accompanied by family and friends with about fifteen hundred at Burlington station to pay respects. Lincoln party of 200 including Governor Savage and officials assisted Omaha Burlington staff and citizens. Hamburg delegation led by W T Davis D W Swiggart Tinnel J R Bentley and Edwin H Gillman attended.
Funeral rites for J Sterling Morton draw thousands as processions move through Nebraska City. The Chicago contingent, Arbor Lodge bequest, and $100000 estate feature. Morton founded Arbor Day and is hailed as Nebraska’s adopted son with lasting monuments in every planted tree.
