Through persistent effort by Mr Washburne and others in Congress the paper makers monopoly faced duty on paper and passed the House by two to one. Farnsworth of this state opposed the monopoly. Senate action was anticipated as likely. Paper supply waned slightly in New York.

Reconstruction Era Draft Order Redistricts for Fair Quotas

In January 1865 Provost Marshal General issues an order to re sub district the 3d District by making each township a sub district. This aims to equalize quotas and ensure each township bears its proper share of the draft credit. Voters Registry Bill Heard In Legislature

A bill for an act on the registry of electors and to prevent fraudulent voting, introduced by Ms. Benewago, reported favorably by the Judiciary Committee and set as a special order for Tuesday at 2 PM. Board of Registry for Electors in State Districts

Judges or inspectors in each district form a Board of Registry to create an alphabetically arranged register of electors for the upcoming election. They must meet before polls open, copy and file lists with town or city clerks, allow public inspection, post notices, and update by revising voters names, with penalties for false entries or noncompliance.
