Measrs Burchard Tilten and Merrill Hunt Canvas-Backs
Measrs Jesse Burchard W G Tilten and Ben Merrill of this city have gone to Western Town to hunt canvas-backs. They expect to bring back considerable game. Before Mr Burchard returns home he will go to Dakota Territory to visit John Spats and other former residents of Freeport. The Rev Dr Thomas was on Tuesday found guilty of heresy by the Methodist Church of the Rock River Conference in Sycamore. His address says his offense lies in belief that Christ lived and died not to reconcile God to man but man to God. He supports the inspiration of Scripture but doubts every verbal text is inspired and holds that there may be room for repentance after death, while everlasting punishment attends persistent sin.
