Whigs Listen to Vicn Monnis Address at Court House

A Friday Whig meeting at the Court House heard Vicn B. S. Monnis of Chicago outline his State Secretary campaign while weather limited attendance. T J Goodhue spoke against locofoco demagoguery on internal improvements, praised Gen Pierce and New Hampshire stance, and urged Whigs to support their candidates. Mr Morris arrived late, spoke on Virginia Kentucky resolutions and Madison, critiquing Baltimore convention planks and Matteson’s alleged plunder, and the gathering closed with cheers for Buck Morris and Gen Scott.

Whig Meetings Held in Onoco Winslow and Cedarville

Local Whig gatherings occurred Wednesday and Thursday with officers chosen in each town. James Howe named President in Onoco, Edward Wuut presided at Winslow, and George W Clingman led Cedarville with John IL7Adaing as Secretary. Support urged for Whig candidates to ensure old Stephenson’s election.
