Repeal of the Bankrupt Law Passed by Senate
The United States Senate amended and passed a bill to repeal the Bankrupt Law with effect September 1 next. The repeal removes the March 2 1867 act and the June 22 1874 amendments from Revised Statutes and all successors, but preserves ongoing cases and penalties prior to taking effect and all future bankruptcy actions and criminal matters under the prior law.

The Goose in the Mud and a Moral Tale
A large field holds many geese and ganders. A young goose dabbles in a muddy pond after a lover’s urging, is rejected by him, and faced with stoning by peers. The tale contrasts double standards as ganders who mud up are praised, while the female is banished, ending with a proverb about consistency.
