Indemnity Closed Spain Virginius Case Early
The Spanish government has settled the Virginius indemnity, ending the dispute months ahead of the arbitration deadline. The ship Schiller, en route from New York to Hamburg, wrecked near the Scilly Isles with over 200 aboard, most of them German travelers, and most presumed dead. The ship carried $300,000 in gold and 800 bales of cotton. New York Health Board reports a rise in diphtheria and smallpox, concentrated in crowded tenement districts and certain wards.

Poisoned tomatoes in Dunkirk New York scare causes

Execution Accepts Modern Scaffold in Plymouth
