Minutes of the Damascus Farmers Club dated February 19 1870 record opening by Mr Norman Phillips with a reading by Miss Mary Phillips and a discussion led by the ladies on health and cleanliness. Topics covered include indoor and outdoor work for women, diet, air quality, and the impact of exercise. A February 26 session had bad weather reducing attendance, March 6 saw essays by Mrs R A Adams and debate on outdoor labor for ladies. Topics also included manure usage and farming prospects.
