A Chinese Printing Office Curiosity Observed
From the Danbury News. A Chinese printing office astonishes readers with vast cases that wrap around two stories, twenty years to learn the job, and printers who cut characters with a jackknife. Journeymen work by foot, ink with boxing gloves, and a century-old paper prints tea chests on a twenty five cylinder press. The editor’s head is said to determine published items, and Bennet is rumored to edit a valued paper.

Curious Coin Found in Oak in Warrenton
In a Warrenton Maine pasture August Antimiller chopped a white oak and found a silver coin embedded eight inches inside the tree. Dated 1774 and likely French or Spanish, the coin shows wear from heavy use and was once wrapped in crumbling paper. The reasons for its placement remain a mystery. Also includes instructions for watering hanging baskets using a vase and cords to draw moisture through the basket strands.
