The Burrell brothers promote cheaper peas and advertise two houses and lots for sale or trade. J H McNamara's boot and shoe business passes to Ches McNamara & Co with store improvements and expanded display space.

Also notes on Price's Cream Baking Powder and local sellers Emmert & Burrell.
Read advertisement noting oysters received daily in Baltimore with cheaper rates and special prices for buyers.
An old advert describes Cenraum Liniments for humans and animals. It claims remarkable effects and that bottles can be cured by a druggist or at the office in New York City at 46 Dey Street.
An aggressive sales pitch promotes Green's August Flower as a universal liver cure. It claims chronic symptoms like headaches dizziness and nervous prostration can be relieved with a 10 cent bottle. Swarts and Stocking are named distributors.
Mock River University at Dixon begins its Fall term of the fourth year on Monday September 9 1878. The new building and grounds have been improved and the institution is relieved from debt under a fresh vigorous faculty of university and normal graduates ready to serve local educational interests.
