Taxation of National Banks Under State Authority
The bill authorizing taxing shares of National Banks passed the House. It provides that when a bank is located in a state, the legislature may determine how the bank is taxed within that state, not exceeding the rate on other capital. Non resident ownership shares taxed in the bank’s city or town.
