Broad gauge change planned for Galena line
The Chicago and Northwestern Railway Company will widen the gauge of their Galena and Wisconsin branch to standard gauge due to heavy snow and other impediments. Weather permitting, the work will begin soon. The city contract restricting gauge changes is likely to be annulled, allowing the Northwestern to extend toward Bargainsa, providing a shorter air line to Chicago via Lanark.
