Prominent Citizen Robbed in Downtown Street Ambush
Last evening at about 9:30 Jas S Neff, a well known local figure, was accosted at Grove and Stephenson streets by a gang of four or five thieves. They demanded money, held his arms, and a pistol at his head while others rifled his pockets, taking about 560 dollars. Neff escaped unharmed in clothing, with some minor injuries. The incident sparks alarm over city safety and calls for stronger policing and council action to protect residents and the Mayor and family.
