Whig County Convention Called for August Meeting

Whig candidates for county offices will be nominated at the Freeport court house on Monday August 30 at 12 noon. Six delegates will be chosen to represent Old Stephenson in the Rockford Congressional Convention on September 1. Town committees are urged to select delegates for August 21 to attend the County Convention. Delegates allocated by towns. a large turnout is requested to uphold Old Stephenson. At the prior Freeport Temperance Society session, resolutions called for a County Temperance Convention on September 16 and appointed a three person committee to notify town papers and organize a County Temperance Society to advance total abstinence and curb intemperance.
