From Yellow Creek reports show rapid crop cutting aided by machinery led by the Marsh Harvester. An accident injured old townsman Lewis Doerr when a horse threw him from an umbrella ride. Locals express optimism for a large corn crop and note chinch bug damage remains modest.
From Orangeville, a small thriving town on the Richland. Farmers bring in produce at dawn and dusk, butter brings twenty cents a pound, a local firm sells about 2500 pounds weekly. Alvah Laborde recovers from a reaper accident, school days resume, grain fields prosper with winter oats and barley, spring wheat damaged by chinchbugs yet corn looks strong, potatoes plentiful, hay prices seen as high next spring.
In Kent County a thriving settlement near Reber shows six new barns and two new houses within two miles of the post office. Local mechanics handle much of the work as farmers invest in repairs and improvements while highway commissioners push well maintained roads and financial soundness. Reber, successor to Dan Chamer, runs the town’s best store.

Dr Payne, the natural healer, will lecture at the Pennsylvania House in Freeport during the first ten days of July August and September.
