Washington Sept 24 Special The commission to investigate war conduct held its initial meeting in the White House office with eight members present. A ninth member was expected though unnamed. Attending were Gen. Dodge General Ill Col. Sexton Ill Capt Howell Ga Gen Wilson Chas Denby ex minister Woodbury ex Gov Beaver Gen H McCook. The surprise inclusion of Gen Beaver was not previously announced.
Kansas City reports a small army of detectives laboring over last night's Missouri Pacific hold-up between Leeds and Dawson seven miles from the city. No concrete clues or suspects yet. Express matter was largely destroyed and officials decline to reveal the loss, calling it small. The robbery is noted as one of the boldest in this locality.

Warren high school defeated Freeport 4 to 0 in a cautious season opener. Both teams showed limited practice with loose play, Warren using a heavier line to pound a weak Freeport spot while Freeport relied on end runs and a late first-half score.
