Bride Elopes to Beloit Amid Dress Fight

Rockford, Sept. 8. Frank Chandler, son of Rockford's assistant police chief, and Miss Nettie Sherman eloped to Beloit and wed. Mrs Lake, the bride's stepmother, blocked the departure, triggering a tug of war that tore away half the dress as the couple left. The groom prevailed, taking the bride and half the garment.

A Pretty Wedding Celebrated at Lena Last Evening
