Freeport Loses to La Crosse In Balloon Interruption
Freeport fell 10 to 6 to La Crosse yesterday after leading 4 to 2 through eight innings. A balloon ascension at the fair caused a delay and misplays in the eighth inning, with Fisk error blamed for turning the tide as La Crosse capitalized on miscues. Doc Cummings pitched well earlier, while Freeport’s bats produced two three-baggers to start the eighth. Local items note Labor Day closures and community events at Globe park and surrounding towns.
