Leading figures predict McKinley Hobart carry and election of sound money Republicans.

The distinguished postmaster of Chicago and editor of the Staats Zeitung, Nik Hessing, will address Freeport Friday evening at Germania Opera House under the Railway Men's Sound Money club. A leading German figure in the United States, Hessing supports sound money and backed Grover Cleveland in 1892 but opposes free silver. He is expected to draw a large local audience.
Chief Arthur and F P Sargent deny supporting William Jennings Bryan and free coinage. Arthur says he favors sound money and will vote for McKinley. Sargent states he now supports McKinley and opposes depreciated currency, asserting his past signature was for a memorial to Congress, not for Bryan.
Hon Henry Barber, a well known Polo banker and son of Chanceford R Barber, died at his Polo home at 2 o clock this morning after a brief illness described as mania. He was born March 3 1865 attended Yale, married a Mix of Oregon, leaves a wife and two young daughters. He led a respected life in banking and religious work as a Republican not seeking office. Funeral time not announced.
In Keansburg physician Dr W W Palmer his wife and daughter were killed when struck by a train on the Freehold and Atlantic Highlands road near Keyport New Jersey this morning.
