Wreck of the Canadian Steamer Resideer Near Lake Michigan

A voyage from this port ended in disaster as the Canadian steamer Resideer, bound for Kingston with flour and tallow, was wrecked about eight miles north of Big Point Sauble on Monday night. Only two of 23 aboard survived, both firemen. Survivors claim a fierce gale, shifting winds, and heavy seas led to the loss. the vessel and cargo were strewn along the shore. Captain George Patterson of Kingston commanded, with Steward Henry and Purser Bradford named, others perished.
