Marion Illinois October 6 Grand jury returns first batch of murder indictments in the Carterville riot. Named defendants Wesley Shadwens Lem Shadowens Charles Shadwens William Carney Will Selly Kilmer James Math Walker John Wallace Dick Kelley Robert Thadfield Brank Grider Jack Naggle among those charged. Others held for contempt denied. arrests to proceed. Mike Brown, colored, linked to Lauder Station murder of June 3, fled Danville, identified by witnesses, to be tried in Johnson county on change of venue.

Important Bankruptcy Decision in Springfield Ms

In the United States district court Judge Jen issued a ruling on the bankruptcy act’s scope. Nancy Gast, owner of a farm near Girard, Maconpin County, filed for bankruptcy with assets listed at 24000 and liabilities at 21000. Seven mortgage holders sought foreclosure independently of bankruptcy. Trustee Henry C. Hamilton asked to sell the property free of mortgages. The decision holds the bankruptcy act controls all mortgages and dower interests, bringing them under bankruptcy.

Chicago Bicycle Parade Forms for Sunday Night

In Maysville Kentucky Mrs James Lashbrook wife of a farmer was raped and killed at her Clark s station home. Richard Colemian a young black man confessed to the crime after a mob of 500 forced entry into the jail and broke down the door. Guards repelled the crowd but no leader emerged.
