Hand of Death Claims Miss Kitty Works in City

Miss Kitty Works died Sunday afternoon at 3 30 after a lingering illness of consumption. She was 20, born in the city, educated in public schools, and beloved by family and friends. Funeral Tuesday at 2 20 from the Jackson street home, Rev. Burling officiating, with pallbearers named. Henry Brockmeier died last night at 8 30 near Forres ton from tuberculosis at 32, survived by wife and daughter Martha, mother, a brother and a sister. Funeral Wednesday at 1 from the house and 2 30 at Florence Station church, with Revs Funk and Shirk. Daniel Hartman, father of Mrs Margaret Long, died today in Wheelersburg Ohio. Bruce C Bruce of C H Little Bruce Co. Dubuque is dead. funeral tomorrow.

Belvidere High School manager dies after practice

Belvidere Illinois September 80 Joseph Burris manager of the Belvidere High School football team was killed during a practice game. Officials say a brain concussion caused by a mishandled football led to his collapse after calling time. The 16 year old senior died within twenty minutes. Elgin's scheduled game next Saturday was canceled due to the tragedy.

McKibben Platt & Co plan to relocate their whole factory from Freeport to Dubuque Iowa due to lack of suitable quarters and workers. The business has thrived but Freeport lacks enough sewing staff and a proper building. the firm may employ up to 100 workers and offers higher wages to attract local help.
