In Patterson New Jersey on November 21 the vice president died at 8 30 after a day and night of failing health. He had been unconscious since midnight Angina petoris struck at 7 this morning and did not rally Mrs Hobart Garrett Hobart Jr and the nurse remained at the bedside from the moment of unconsciousness until death. The private secretary notified the White House at 7 30 this morning of the death.
Washington reports Vice President Garret Hobart dead with flags at half mast as nation mourns. President McKinley and Cabinet react, proclamations issued, and a pro tempore Senate leader to be elected. funeral day flag protocols set nationwide.
The document notes burial plans signed by the president and Secretary of State John Hay. The funeral for Vice President Hobart is scheduled for Saturday at 2 PM at the Church of the Redeemer, with burial to follow.
Sprinareto Nov 20. C H Bosworth reports to Governor Tanner that the Illinois Central Railroad correctly reports its gross earnings as required by law. The six months ending April 30 1899 show 7 percent on operation for 7054 miles Cairo to East Dubuque and Centralia to Chicago, with subsidiary lines fairly allocated and state interests protected.

Seven hundred Boers held high ground thirteen miles south of Tistcourt as Major Thorneycroft’s mounted infantry and Estcourt carbineers attacked. Three Boers were killed including the commandant, and the Boers withdrew with two captured cattle. The main Boer force south of Estcourt is reported to have retired.
The 1911 annual session of the Grand Encampment of Illinois Odd Fellows met today in Strixcrrery Illinois. Officers elected include Grand Patriarch C. O. Lytle of Decatur Grand High Priest George M. Sreley of Frame City Senior Warden A. D. M. Bemberton of Galatia Scribe J. C. Smith of Chicago Treasurer J. H. Raible of Alton Junior Warden Phas. Woot of occetou The Daughters of Rebekah held a school of instruction.
Democratic National committee adjourned and will meet again on call of Vice-Chairman Johinson. Chairman Jones holds place and due of the national committee meeting. The group expects the 1904 Democratic convention to endorse the Chicago platform with anti trust and anti imperialism planks likely adopted. Manila gunboat Helena reached Camagquin on Nov 12 and met the Charleston crew finding the wrecked cruiser bows wrecked but unlikely salvage. The Helena left due to heavy weather.
Panama dispatch reports a two day battle near Bucaramanga between government forces and revolutionists ending with a government victory. Over 1,000 rebels killed and 2,000 wounded. Also noted is a transfer of the Dewey home from Mrs. Mildred Dewey to Admiral Dewey's son George Goodwin Dewey. Fresh oysters offered at 15 cents per quart.
