President elect McKinley and National Republican Secretary Osborne toured Canton streets in a brisk walk amid greetings. Guests included Mother McKinley, Mrs. Herrick, and Committeeman Scott as they discussed campaign results and party status.
Washington reports the next House will tilt Democratic with net gains of 23 seats for Democrats and 18 for Populists, while Republicans fall by 37. Utah adds a seat and gold Democrats push silver ticket totals. contests loom for James J Belden and George Murray. George H White, a Black representative, is noted as secured.
Denver women from social and political groups send a pressing invitation for Mrs William J Bryan to join her husband in Denver on the 24th inst The letter praises her as devoted wife and mother and an intelligent club woman and asks her to reconsider her previously unfavorable decision telegraphed to Denver yesterday.
Senator Cockrell of Missouri returned to Washington yesterday. He was a member of the executive committee of the silver league that organized the drive which carried the Democratic convention for silver. Asked if the silver fight would continue, he answered in his usual vigorous manner.
The Kansas Equal Suffrage association in session at Topeka declares Kansas women tired of begging for favors and will act as a political force. It adopts a resolution to defeat any candidate who won’t openly support universal suffrage for adults. The group also seeks presidential suffrage for Kansas women from the incoming legislature.
Frankfort Ky November 13 Returns from all 119 counties end at the secretary of state. National ticket totals show 445000 votes with McKinley at 218055 and Bryan at 217798 giving McKinley a 267 plurality. The returns arrive earlier than usual and the canvassing board may start within days.
National Republican Chairman M. A. Hanna and family returned to Cleveland pleased with their New York visit. He expressed satisfaction with the ongoing financial fight of 1900 and indicated Major McKinley will delay his Cleveland trip until next week. Hanna may travel to Canton on Sunday to see the president-elect.
Springfield Ills November 13 Some papers claim Senator Palmer bolted the Indianapolis ticket and voted for McKinley He says he did not vote for himself and did not vote for presidential electors Instead he voted for the gold standard independent Democracy state ticket
Boston officials and Republicans flare over the election of Isaac B. Allen a negro to the executive council Allen refuses resign and says he will take his seat if Wolcott is inaugurated governor He will represent one of Boston's aristocratic sections.
Columbus Ohio November 18 the official vote certified to the secretary of state shows John J Lentz Democrat elected representative in the Twelfth district over H K Watson by forty nine votes.
Indianapolis Nov 18 The farmers congress adjourned after noon with officers, including President Clayton, to serve another four years. Opposition to Samuel W Allerton's bid for secretary of agriculture led to the withdrawal of a second resolution. A sugar bounty restoration and resolutions on woman suffrage, rural mail service, hog cholera prevention, immigration limits, and the creation of a national department of commerce were adopted or recommended.
Indianapolis reports Judge Woods of the U S court has extended the receivership in the Mills cases against the Louisville New Albany and Chicago railroad to cover related action by Farmers Loan and Trust. William T. McDoel is named receiver in all three actions filed yesterday.
Washington reports that Britain and the United States move toward finalizing the arbitration plan and will soon decide the four judicial members. King Oscar II is set as chief arbitrator, with designations to be confirmed, while a separate treaty between Britain and Venezuela will finalize the boundary agreement.
Stockholm Nov 13 The Associated Press reported King Oscar refused to state his position on the Venezuela arbitration until an official request is received. Officials note he has agreed in principle to act if formally asked, and would appoint a personal representative to attend court meetings.

Commissioner Joseph S. Miller of the Internal Revenue Bureau has resigned to become vice president of the American Bonding and Trust Company in Baltimore. Former Representative Forman of Illinois is expected as his successor. The president has expressed regret at Miller’s retirement and high regard for his three years and seven months of service. Miller will stay on until his successor is ready.
The schooner Senator Blood bound for Detour ran into a easterly gale near Mackinac Island on Tuesday night. Stranded on Goose Island shoal at midnight, the crew clung to the rigging until morning when rescued by the steamer Alva. They reached St Egnace. the vessel is breaking up and likely a total loss.
