Elderly Assassin Shot Beattie at the Custom House

Louis Boral, an ex customs inspector, shot Gen. Beattie the port surveyor at noon Wednesday. Boral surrendered after a failed attempt to draw a pistol, with Beattie gravely wounded in the groin and hand.
