Wilbur Lumber Co at Exchange 81 near Brewster House under manager W M Sanford advertises Atlas checks on cash lumber purchases only and provides telephone line No 7 for inquiries.
The surgeon general of the marine hospital confirmed a yellow fever case in New Orleans. Precautions to prevent spread have been implemented. The Nicaragua Canal Commission report was released, estimating the canal cost at 118,114,000 dollars.
London May 81 Special Flying Fox won the Derby with Democles second and Innocence third in a field of twelve.
Paris report notes Manau argues the Dreyfus affair rests on forged documents and calls the 1894 court judgement into question. He asserts new facts alleged to prove Dreyfus’ innocence and asks the court to quash the verdict and refer the case to a new court martial. The court adjourned after his address.

Bishop J. J. Esher of Chicago, senior bishop of the Evangelical Association, will spend Sunday, June 4, in Freeport. He will preach at Oak Street church in the morning and at Salem in the evening, offering locals a chance to hear a noted church leader. Emmert & Burrell.
