Six divisions marched in Chicago as part of a three day Decoration Day program with services at cemeteries and special sermons. General John McNulta spoke at the Grant monument, veterans and G A R posts organized ceremonies, and a Blue and Gray service was held with Union and Confederate veterans in attendance. Other cities reported Memorial Day activities and baseball league standings show Baltimore leading.
Frank McAvoy, long employed by the L N A & L Ry here, praises Chamberlain's Colic Cholera and Diarrhoe Remedy as the best of its kind and says he has used it for ten years. He recommends it for all bowels disorders. Emmert & Burrell sell it locally.
On May 31 in Paris a banquet honored Lafayette and the memory of the battle monument at West Point. General Horace Porter presided while Samuel J. Moris bade farewell as ambassador Porter laid a wreath. In Boston a statue unveiling of Colonel Shaw occurred with Gov. Wolcott, and Harvard’s Willian Jones gave the oration with Booker T. Washington replying for colored veterans. West Point hosted Decoration Day ceremonies with top Army officials in attendance. Memorial services marked Grant's Mount McGregor death site gathering in Saratoga.
