Inauguration of Roisin Catholic University Stone Layed

Washington city May 24. The cornerstone of the Roisin Catholic university, two miles north of the city, was laid amid heavy rain. Cardinal Gibbons presided with President Clavel and many dignitaries including cabinet members and bishops. Miss Mary G Caldwell was honored for founding the university with a $300,000 contribution. The ceremony featured a gold medal from Pope Leo XIII and a pledge of papal blessing. The event aimed to establish the greatest seat of religious learning in the western hemisphere.

Cleveland visitors tour City with Mr Childs entourage

Mrs. Cleveland and companions including Rev Wood and Mrs Wood of Gosmantown visited Philadelphia's Academy of Music and toured Mr George W Childs private offices. They viewed a collection of ornaments and watches, discussed historical items, and were hosted at Childs's Belleview and other venues before returning by train to Gosmantown.
