Seven former British officers arrested for treason in Johannesburg

Pretoria reports the morning arrest in Johannesburg of seven men named Nicholls Patterson Tremlett Ellis Freis Hooper and Mitchell on treason charges. They arrived by special train and were visited by the British diplomatic agent after imprisonment. Police say incriminating documents were found and more arrests are expected.

The Freeport Shakespeare Society held its annual meeting at Miss Collmann’s home. Officers chosen for the coming year include President Mrs. R. B. Spalding Option Renewed Ahead of Bicycle Trust

New York May 15 R L Coleman president of Western Wheel Works Chicago renewed his option for sale of the bicycle plant to A G Spalding. The Spalding engineered combination will control a large share of U S bicycle output with facilities to produce a complete bicycle every five seconds ten hours daily. Financing comes from United States Mortgage and Trust and Lee Higginson Co Boston. Capital planned at 35 million dollars preferred and 45 million common stock. Within days 106 manufacturers holding options will transfer their plants here to finalize the new company’s organization.
