Porto Rico Action Reports Navy Engagement at San Juan

May 12 dispatch from Admiral Sampson described an attack by part of the squadron on San Juan’s batteries. Three hours of firing caused damage to batteries and nearby city. one sailor was killed on the flagship New York and seven wounded. No major ship damage reported.
