The Ladies Aid of Memorial Lutheran church host a sleigh ride and oyster supper tonight for one cent. Sleds gather at the hive at 7 30. After the ride, an oyster supper will be served at Mr and Mrs H G Mc Culloch home on Fifth Ave. All are invited.
Mrs Emma G Krape organized a large Daughters of the Globe garrison at Scales Mound with the village’s leading women. Plans are to institute a Hazel Green Wisconsin garrison tonight, the first in the state, with many more to follow as the Knights of the Globe broadens its membership.
The will dated June 16, 1897, leaves Orangeville real estate to be sold for cash. The widow receives one third dower, with the remainder divided among eight children named Wm, Henry, Ada J. Pryberger, Mrs. Catherine C. Graham, Mrs. Mary L. Smerick, Mrs. Elizabeth Barker, Mrs. Louisa Schadel, Mrs. Sarah Swartz, and Mrs. Ben J. Mahany. After the widow’s death her share goes to the children. Henry A. Calvin Pryberger named executor.
A letter from Freeport on Tuesday reports James Lahre relapsed while there and is under care of two top physicians. He had previously been injured in a fall down a stairwell at elevator A, leaving him unable to work. He and his family traveled to Freeport to visit relatives, but his condition worsened into a serious state. Friends hope for a speedy improvement.
County Superintendent Burton sets 1898 central and final exams starting March 21 in German Valley and ending April 8 in Freeport. Sessions include teachers’ exams. prepare to pay $1 and seek certificates. Final tests June 12 at Freeport with standard average grade. Local teachers to arrange school buildings with the board.
