Democratic State Central Committee Meets in Prorta Ill

The Illinois Democratic convention opened with Secretary of State Henrichsen presiding. About seven thousand attendees heard Temporary Chairman Alexander Hamilton Bell urge unity and free coinage of gold and silver at 16 to 1. Delegates were named by districts amid disorder and adjournment to three. Ninth district caucus favored silver, with D F Ley and Sam Rae among delegates to Chicago and M H Cleary presiding.
