In Boise Idaho June 20 the state presented dramatic proof of the Goddard bomb used in Orchard plot. Judge Luther M. Goddard testified to the confession and discovery of the screw eye, the buried pine box, and the rusted vial. Captain Morrow of the Kilpatrick was fined 720 by the treasury department for bringing to Newport News a case of silks laces and other fine dress goods marked used household goods. The box, shipped from Havana, prompted duty payment and investigation by revenue officers.

In St Louis on June 20 a capsite containing strychnine mailed to Lord Frederick Seymour Barrington in Clayton jail awaiting execution was intercepted by Sheriff Heppel. An envelope marked Personal held a five grain capsule and a note claiming the capsule would cure indigestion. The letter bore the prefix Dr but a real name was not disclosed.
