Farmhouse Destroyed Near South City After Fire
The home of A. Mayberg two miles south of the county poor farm burned this afternoon at about one o clock. The Mayberg family, at a picnic nearby, saved only one room’s contents after a bucket brigade formed by picnickers. Loss is about 2000 dollars, with portion insured by Forreston Mutual Fire Insurance. A nearby small kitchen is suspected as the blaze origin.

Damage case not settled in Kerr against Illinois Central
The 106000 dollar damage suit brought by W G Kerr against the Illinois Central Railroad dragged through court with plaintiff’s evidence heard. attorney Pattison urged removing the case from the jury and the record indicates the trial may extend into tomorrow.
