Freeport Fishermen Feast on Immense Mendota Catch

In Freeport a party aboard Bernard's steamer fished Mendota waters after arriving by Illinois Central railcar at 9 05 p m Saturday. They brought in 30 black and yellow bass 9 pickerel including a 10 pounder 150 white bass rock and silver bass and perch totaling six fish and over 200 pounds. A dray was needed to haul the haul to the depot. Led by William Ascher the group, part of the Freeport community and Bill Ascher's Sunday School class, is described as a civic religious gathering from Freeport.
