Bryan Tour Ends with Omaha Stop in Nebraska Speech Sweep

Bryan wrapped up a week long tour of northern and western Nebraska with a rear platform speech in Columbus and an Omaha stop. He delivered about forty two speeches and similar informal replies since leaving home last Thursday. His talks emphasized opposition to the current financial system and critiqued the currency measure. Closing day addresses were at North Platte and Lex Wieser, with business nearly suspended at the latter. He praised his trip, stayed overnight, and began homeward. In Lexington his remarks partly praised Senator La Follette for opposing the emergency currency bill. Baltimore reporters noted the Democratic state convention chose delegates to Denver but did not adopt a platform or clearly name Bryan as the presidential candidate. The Maryland delegation support statement pledged loyalty to a united party. Baton Rouge reported W Bryan was endorsed for the presidency, while Louisiana decided to instruct its delegation differently and the vote on Bryan support was said to be overwhelming.
